In November, Kim Ng became the first female General Manager of a major league North American sports team.
Ms. Ng was the first but certainly won’t be the last. We believe the Wildcats also have over 1,600 players who will be pro sports GMs, bank executives, tech entrepreneurs, and government leaders. We are not the only ones who think this. Ken Campbell of Sports Illustrated/Hockey News included our association in an article on women who more than deserve the GM role in the NHL.
FlipGive sponsored a Wildcat-only contest to see if one of our Toronto Leaside players has what it takes to lead a team to the Stanley Cup. We received several really good videos. A special panel of judges, including our own Kim McCullough, head of Wildcat Hockey Operations, and Sam Menard of FlipGive selected three winners. Our panel also includes Hockey Hall of Famer, Jayna Hefford; Meghan Chayka, President of Stathletes, a sports analytics firm based in Toronto, and the author of the article, Ken Campbell.
The three deserving winners were:
- Adelaide Piotrowski U11 AA
- Liz Salnek U18 BB
- Hayden Ross U13 B
Congratulations to them all!
