Earlier this year the Government of Canada announced a national youth sports helpline. The sports helpline is an anonymous toll-free number for players and families to address harassment, abuse, and discrimination.
The Toronto Leaside Girls Hockey Association applauds the Government’s initiatives, including the helpline, gender equity targets, and Ontario’s Rowan’s Law. These complement efforts of the Wildcats to proactively work with our coaches, volunteers, players and parents. Policies such as Respect In Sport, Code of Conduct, and Vulnerable Sector Screenings provide our players with a safe place to enjoy the game of hockey.
The Canadian Sport Helpline is 1-888-83-SPORT (77678). Information on the program can be found at abuse-free-sport.ca.
