Tournament Teams…

During the past several seasons our house league players have participated in area tournaments. The experience is great for the players. It builds teamwork, skills, gives them the opportunity to travel, play against teams from other leagues and have a fantastic time!
Tournament teams are regular house league club teams that participate in three or four tournaments in addition to our regular house league program. Players join on a first-come basis, based on the date/time of their house league registration. The program is NOT based upon tryouts.
The cost of the program is $400 per player (in addition to regular house league registration fees). Cheques from parents will be collected in the first two weeks of the season. Over the course of the year the girls will end up playing approximately 12 extra games at tournaments, and usually one extra practice before each tournament, for a total of approximately four extra practices. Because of the extra games and a few extra practices that are part of this extra fee program, these teams will do better than the teams who are not getting this experience, usually by the end of the year.
All house league teams, including tournament teams will be balanced with both girls who have expressed an interest in trying out for the Development Stream (DS) team, this will allow for maximum flexibility in balancing the regular house league program. All teams at the start of the year are balanced based upon both parent ratings, and previous year Coach ratings.
House league tournaments typically involve a three-game round-robin on Friday and Saturday with semi-finals and championships on Sunday. The tournaments we participate in are generally local (within the GTA) with one “away” tournament – within a few hour drive from central Toronto. Tournament dates and locations will be selected by the Association so as not to conflict with the house league schedule. We expect that the tournament teams will enter a tournament in the late fall on a date to be determined, a tournament in January and then one in February.
If you would like your daughter to play on a tournament team, please indicate your interest in the tournament team when you register for house league.
Please note that if you are submitting a mutual friend request, both players’ expressions of interest in the tournament team must be the same. If any players make a DS team, then mutual friend requests will NOT be guaranteed as to provide for maximum flexibility to balance teams.
